The girls still call going to a baseball game going to the baseball player. Well, usually. When we were talking about it in the car, Emma piped up with "Grandma calls it the baseball stadium." I told her she could call it whatever she wanted. "I call it the baseball player."
We went with work again, so we were in the suite again. I swear, it's the only way to go.
The big draw this time was chicken nuggets in a cup. Any food that comes from a cup is automatically better.

Fun
On Friday night, we went to a "family fun" night fundraiser for the local center for developmental services. It's basically the agency that coordinated the girls' early intervention for developmental delays. In the past, it's always been hot, or raining, or the girls weren't old enough. But this year, the weather was absolutely perfect - 70, sunny, and dry.
It was held at the baseball stadium, or "baseball player," that we went to for a game a few weeks ago, so the girls recognized it right away. They kept expecting a game to start. But there were a whole lot of inflatables, art tables, little games, vendor booths, etc. In part due to the weather, it was pretty awesome.
We paid a donation to get in, but the vendors were very generous - the girls each got a beanie baby from the Shriner's Hospital (Emma got a bear, of course. Julie got a little blue teddy bear with snow flakes and a scarf, and Becca got a frog), packages of sidewalk chalk, little inflatable beach balls, yo-yos, stickers, etc.
Becca was all proud of herself - she was the only one who would go up the giant inflatable NASCAR slide. It had a tunnel up the middle that you had to climb up, and the other two saw the dark tunnel and said "no way."
Emma made bunny ears.
Becca made elephant ears.
Julie made mouse ears.
We ran around bare foot for a little while.
We had hamburgers in the stadium for supper. They weren't very good, but all three of them ate the whole darn thing.
And then we found another inflatable slide with no scary tunnel. They kept coming down and saying "just one more time." That went on for about half an hour.
We got to go down on the field for a little while, but it was getting late, and somehow we had promised ice cream. I didn't feel like waiting for 3 of them to finish a big thing of ice cream, so they shared. And they didn't have plain regular cups, so we had to get a waffle cup. Oh, there were screams. "I want my own!" "I want a cup!" But once they realized there was ice cream in the waffle cup, they were ok.
They were totally amused that they could eat the bowl when they were done.
We did run into their interventionist, Catie, right as we were sitting down with ice cream. The girls didn't seem to remember her, but it was great to see her and thank her again.

And on to more recent adventures...
Last weekend, my department had a suite at the local minor league baseball stadium. The girls talked about it all day on Saturday (I just might have used it as incentive to go to bed on Friday night). "When are we going to see the baseball player?"
And immediately... they turned into our party animals. They were clapping, cheering, dancing. I had no idea they like baseball so much. They were just so excited to be there.
The team's mascot is a frog, and the girls don't like the frog. He came up to the suite, and they insisted on sitting in my lap. And then, after that, it was always, "where is the frog? He's not coming back, is he?" Here, they're on frog patrol with daddy.
My dancing queen.
It got a little too loud for her.
Becca gives me the universal "my peanut cup is empty and I'm on frog watch" sign.
Even inside the suite, they wanted to be up against the doors, watching the game.
I love that they liked it so much. Of course, having a suite is the way to go ... air conditioning, food and drinks delivered to you, tables to eat at. Hopefully we can go back again soon.

A Great Day

Thanks to all of our families and friends, we raised nearly $1400 for the March of Dimes. Saturday morning was our walk, and the girls did a great job. The weather was gorgeous. I'm so glad we did it as a family this year.
After the walk, the girls wanted to walk up and down along these smooth rocks. Up and down. Up and down.

As close as we get to a group shot.

Grandma G flew in for the weekend, and we met her at the park after the walk. The girls were certainly surprised to see her! After running around for a while and then getting some lunch, we headed home. And the best part?

After a good, solid nap for the girls, and an even more solid nap for me, we were ready to go again. My department at work had suite tickets for the local minor league baseball team. Can you believe I didn't take my camera? Someone took a family pic of us, but I haven't gotten copy yet. The game started at 7, and considering the girls normally go to bed between 7:30 and 8, they did great staying up until 9. I tell ya, suite life is where it's at. The girls ate dinner, much to the amusement of my coworkers. They actually sat in our laps to watch parts of the game, but they were most interested in the frog mascot, and a Chick-fil-A cow that came out for a contest. We took them down to the bleachers to see the frog (after Emma's pleading), and of course they froze up and were scared. They eventually waved. That was about it. It was nice to be outside, the weather was gorgeous, it was nice to be out as a family, nice to spend time with my mom.
All in all, a great day.
