Poor Minnie

Minnie Mouse got a boo boo.

I bought them some costumes at Costco last weekend (one Minne, and 2 fairies) to play dress up in.  I bought them some really cute costumes for Halloween, but they have so far rejected them.  I'm not sure if they'll end up wearing these for Halloween or not, but that wasn't my intent.  I'm working the Halloween costumes to try to build up a dress up wardrobe for them.  All I've got so far, though, are princesses, Minnie, and fairies.  I guess I need to buy a doctor costume or something.  A rocket scientist.

The Grandmas and the Papas

Our trip up for my brother's wedding was a bit of a whirlwind.  We drove up last Wednesday.  Greg's parents also drove down, so for Thursday, the girls had quite the audience for their antics.

First, the girls got Papa G to build a stool for them for the bathroom.

Then, Papa set up an Easter egg hunt for them had trouble finding all of the eggs that the Easter bunny hid, and the girls are nothing if not helpful.

The weather was a little dodgy - periodic short little rain showers, so we were inside and back out all day long.  Inside, we played "memory" and helped clean up.

It did clear up for long enough to go to the park, though.  (Hm, it rained on the way there, and then it started raining again as we were leaving...)

Julie monkey

They were brave and tried out some new things that they weren't big enough for last time, like this little bridge.

They were also spider monkeys on the rope web.

Emma wasn't too sure of it though - that look of terror on her face is genuine.  She did just fine, though.

Aunt Victoria and Uncle Dan got all three girls on the tire swing.  Oh, they loved it!  Look at their hair flying!
They were so dizzy when they got off ... stumbling around.  It was pretty funny.

Uncle Dan and Becca.  They get along a lot better now that there aren't diapers to change.  :)

I went to the Disney store while we were there, since we don't have one around here, and the girls are just flat out obsessed with Mickey Mouse Club House.  I got the girls some Minnie Mouse cars, which they loved, and raced around the house with Grandma and Papa, and then later with Uncle Dan and Aunt Victoria.  (I love these pictures Greg got from floor level.)

Thank you, Mickey Mouse Club House.

Space Helmets

I took the girls to run some errands last weekend, and we ended up at Target (of course).  I've been meaning to get them bike helmets ever since Emma started zooming across the yard.  I finally had the three of them with me, and they actually had three of the same size.  It's a good thing that I had them with me, too.  Because those "ages 3+" helmets?  Yeah, those wouldn't go on.  We ended up with 3 that are "ages 5+."  They're a little bit big, but I figure it's better than getting them too small and having them not wear them.

As soon as they started putting them on, they said, "we have space helmets!"  I think they saw that episode of Mickey Mouse Club House too many times.

The helmets are packaged on some cardboard, so they can hang on a rack, and they also have a bell attached to the cardboard.  The cardboard is essentially an extra long visor.  So long, in fact, that Julie and Becca couldn't sit like that in the cart without constantly bumping into each other.

Not thrilled that they're "princess," but that was the only thing they had 3 of.  And they seem excited to wear them.  So excited that they wore them in the car.  And to Panera afterwards for lunch.  Where Becca was running, tripped and fell, and I said, "Good thing you had your helmet on."

We also believe in safety first on the swings.

Or in the sandbox.

A little 'venture

Greg had to go clothes shopping last week.  Seriously, it had gotten bad.  I've been telling him he needed to go for the last 6 months or so.  Shirt elbows have been ripping left and right, and he was down to the point where, if it was cold, we could barely keep up with the laundry fast enough.

Anyhow, after I fed them, we went to the craft store.  Actually, we went to Party City first to get some Valentine's day things, and some art supplies the nanny had requested.  I let them pick out some things for their birthday - some cups, plates, napkins.  Mickey and Minnie, of course.

Then the craft store.  Did I mention that Julie and Emma insisted on wearing their tutus?  And that Julie's purple sweater, jeans, and orange tutu were accented by her bright blue panda bear rain boots?

They studied the Pez display intently.  Oh, every kind of Pez you can imagine.  Luckily I saw the display before they did, and grabbed three before they saw me.

What were they?  Well, Minnie of course.

Popcorn

I've been hungry for popcorn ever since Greg and I went to the movies back after Christmas.  I finally remembered that we have an air popper hidden up over the stove.  And, ever since, it's become the girls' favorite.  And eating popcorn on the couch while watching Mickey Mouse?  Well, that's about as good as it gets.
