Personality and Developmental Notes 10/19/10

The newest game we've added to our repetoire? Spit shining. Yup, you read that right. When we picked the girls up from daycare on Friday, they had cotton fuzzy pieces all over them. Turns out, my ladies insisted on cleaning up, and the cotton fuzz was from the wipes they were using. Over the weekend, they added the spit. Raspberries, really. Julie is a raspberry factory, and once she starts, she doesn't stop (we had to tell her "no" when she started doing it at dinner at Panera). So, now they (primarily Julie and Emma) blow raspberries and spit all over the windows and entertainment center and some of their toys. Becca gets in on it, too, but more with the wiping and a little less of the slobbering. They come over to the changing table and point at the wipes container until we give them one. Sometimes they clean with baseball hats on backward and they look like my own little cleaning crew. Emma even spit shined Grandpa's knee. Now that's service!

Some pictures of my crew:

J&E

J, winding up

J, going in close for some extra special care. E: "wow, I've never seen that much slobber in all of my 21 months."

R. Backlit. Ah, be still my heart.

Cleaning up their toys. I told E she needs little caster wheels on her seat, so she can just slide around like the pros.

Taking a break (E&R)

J, detailing the window. I was working on a nice, detailed picture of her slobber, but she beat me to it.

Taking a break from being crazy, back behind the couch. They love this alley. It has to be wide enough for the shopping cart and doll stroller to get through.

One of my favorite books to read to the girls before bed is the Dr. Seuss book Marvin K Mooney, and with their growing vocabulary, the girls are starting to add sound effects. There's the "you can go by lion's tail" that always gets some "grrrrowllls.". The fish get fishy noises. "You can go in a hat" gets lots of head patting, and "you can go by foot" gets shouts of "foot!" and feet raised in the air. "Just go, go, go. Please do, do, do!" tries to be repeated "do do do!"

The girls love to put socks ("yots!") on, and Emma pretty much has it down. When given the opportunity, Becca is insisting on putting on her own sneakers. Becca also loves to work on putting pants on, usually over pants she already has on. And, unfortunately for the shirt necks, Emma is insisting on putting on shirts like skirts with her legs through the neck holes.

Apparently Becca has also mastered taking off her pants, because that's how I found her when I finally rescued her from her nap strike on Saturday. Luckily that was as far as she got.

The girls will be so lucky to have their childhood documented with pictures and your descriptions from this blog! Did you ever think about getting it made in to a book every year?

They ARE by far the cutest cats ever!
