My great aunt Cora passed away early on Tuesday morning.

DOVER -- Cora Risko died on Aug. 28, 2007, at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare's in Dover. She was 85.

Cora Mae Gensheimer was born on Jan. 20, 1922, in Port Morris, to Francis Gensheimer and Augusta Goetz. She was their only daughter and had two brothers, Charles and Francis. Early on, she discovered her love of music and played the accordion, the piano, the organ and any number of "rhythm instruments." During the war, she played the piano at a lakeside restaurant in Lake Hopatcong during dinner. Music continued to be an important part of her life as she went on to teach music and play the organ through affiliations with the Port Morris United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

Throughout her life, she held many jobs, as an operator with the phone company, an aide in the library and the schools, but the one she cherished most was that of wife, mother and grandmother. In July of 1948, she married the love her life, Joseph Risko, and the two shared an amazing life and marriage.

She is survived by her two sons, John Risko of Green Township and Joseph Risko of New Milford; and her six grandchildren.

She is joined once again in heavenly rest with her beloved husband, Joseph. The family would like to extend special thanks to the folks at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare's in Dover for the extreme care, kindness and dignity provided during her last days.

Services are as follows: Thursday, Aug. 30, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., at the Morgan Funeral Home, 31 Main St., Netcong N.J. 07857. There will be a Mass on Friday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m., at Port Morris United Methodist Church.
