I'm still trying to figure out how to keep water out of their ears, too. The doctor's office had an ad for custom ear molds, but the kids have to be 3ish... willing to sit for long enough for someone to smoosh stuff in their ears (yeah, right), and then let the smoosh harden for a few minutes. So yeah, not going to happen. I guess we'll try wax?
My mom came for a visit this weekend - we found a cheap last minute ticket. She got in on Saturday afternoon, so we all went up to the airport to meet her. We all went out for bbq for dinner. This happened the last time, too: When I walked in with Becca, she stopped at the first bank of high chairs that we pass, and she picked hers out, and then wanted to push it across the floor to the table.
On Sunday morning, Greg and I slept in for a while, and then we took the girls to the park. Even with 3 adults, it was still pretty crazy. The girls all wanted to go down the slide this time, and they LOVED it. There was no way to get pictures, though - we were shorthanded, with 2 of us juggling the girls waiting to go down, and one at the bottom of the slide catching them. Becca was a little nervous at first, but her smile got bigger each time she went down.
Check out our new hats, too. Love them. They have a strap so they stay on, plus give good neck coverage. And they're cute.

After a nap, we had a birthday party for a family friend - it was Miles' first birthday. It was the first birthday party that they've really been to where they could go play with other kids. Miles had gotten the same water table that the girls have, so once they got over their initial shyness, they went right to it. Emma splashed. Julie chewed on all of the animals. Becca got scared by the dog, though, and stayed in Grandma's lap.
Julie and Emma got soaked ... so, after quickly changing them in the back of the car, we took them to the Mellow Mushroom for pizza for dinner. We sat next to a table of people who had a seeing eye dog. Once Julie caught sight of the dog, she started screaming. Greg took her for a walk to calm her down, and once he walked away from the table, Becca started screaming. Greg and Julie came back, Becca calmed down. And then Emma started acting whiny. We thought she was afraid of the dog, so we shuffled her around. Still whiny, so Grandma picked her up for a while. She put her head down. I figured she was just tired. And then she threw up. A lot. Grandma started trying to wipe up and handed Emma to me. And she threw up again, all over me. Poor kid. So yeah, we got the pizza to go. And everyone had a bath/shower tonight. Emma had a few graham crackers and some juice, and then had some milk before bed. Back to normal, pretty much.
Some pre-puke pictures. I don't have any of Emma that aren't out of focus. Guess she was woozy.

"Yes, Becca. Daddy went to the bathroom. He'll be right back."

I think Julie's first word is "quack." She loves ducks, and when we see them (books, toys the OR sent home with us from tubes, bath toys), we say "quack quack quack." And Julie says "bwat bwat bwat." It's too funny. She says it all the time now. Julie's also got a pretty good "uh oh."
Becca is sticking with "AT," which means up. She uses it appropriately - when she wants to be picked up, or the minute the car stops.
