Becca's asking "what's that?" all the time now.
The girls have been learning the fine art of stalling, particularly when we are trying to get coats on and get out the door in the morning (running in the opposite direction) or when we are going to bed. Trying to get up the stairs at night is tough. It was probably toughest right before we left for Thanksgiving, and is slightly better at the moment. But we still have to close the gate, close the downstairs bathroom door, play with the light switch, and sometimes just stop in the middle of the steps.
The shutting doors thing is kind of a general obsession at the moment. They (particularly Becca) like to close doors - - car doors, house doors, the fridge door (even if you're trying to get something out).
Lots of interest in things that go right now: trains, planes, cars, busses. Emma calls out whenever she sees an airplane, or sometime just when she hears one. She points to the sky and yells "ah-pane." They all love to see busses, which we see a lot of on our way to daycare in the morning. Whenever they see it, we hear "bussssss." They also like to call out all the trucks they see. Emma's version of "truck" is starting to sound more like "truck" and less like "dutch.'
The owl says "hoo hoo" and the train says "choo choo."
Becca and Emma can be very mothering. I've seen Becca concerned when Emma was upset (after Dusty scared E). Becca likes to be in charge of the "night night" game where she goes around making everyone lay down and putting blankets on us. She'll bend down and check on you, too - she puts her face right in your face to see if you're sleeping.
The girls are still a bit uneasy around the cats (and were around the cats at my parents' at Thanksgiving). But they like to tell the cats "no" whenever a cat is sniffing their toy. Dusty got up on the new kitchen set and Emma said "Dusty down, Dusty down."
The girls have started sitting still for pig tails and pony tails, but they still have a tendency to pull them out. It's more Emma and Becca. Julie's not really interested.
Julie is a champion burper. Seriously.
Wipes ("white") are a new favorite toy. They love to clean things, people, windows still. Over Thanksgiving, though, Emma started asking for wipes for her Cabbage Patch Kid to wipe its, um, diaper region.
I think I mentioned that we're working on juice boxes. They are doing better with them, but they ALWAYS squeeze out that first bit into their laps. They are getting better about not trying to tip it upside down. And they like to take the straws out and put them back in over and over.
